The Precise Craft Behind Minar TMT TEMPCORE Steel bars

MINAR TMT TEMPCORE Steel bars are thrice fortified by three layers that enable it to withstand any challenge of natural forces. The hard to nail and precise process, developed by CRM (Centre for Research in Metallurgy) Belgium represents the best of International processes used in manufacturing steel.

MINAR TMT TEMPCORE Steel bars are manufactured in Minar’s own factory, using a hard to nail and precise process developed by CRM (Centre de Recherches Métallurgiques, it has proved to be a huge leap in the technological innovations on TMT Steel bars. Recreating the TEMPCORE process has allowed the mass production of TMT bars, in one of the most productive methods, among all the different rebars made in India. The scientific precision and productivity of the process allows to create a product of international standards at an affordable price tag, along with superior usability and quality, across the board.

The TEMPCORE Precedence

  • A high yield and low consumption of iron for construction
  • Higher grades easily available Fe 500D
  • Availability of International grades

Reliable and Easy to Use

  • High weldability and ductility
  • High Yield strength with high elongation
  • Ease of use leading to less construction time
  • Ease of availability

Durable and Hazard Resistant

  • High thermal stability
  • Better Corrosion resistance
  • Better resistance to fatigue
  • Higher bond strength
  • Higher resistance to strain ageing
  • Most suited for seismic zones, which nearly 60% of India is high seismic hazard category, i.e Earthquake resistant

Behind the TEMPCORE Process

TEMPCORE is a quench and self-tempering process for the manufacturing of high quality concrete reinforced bars as known as rebars. The TEMPCORE Process has been developed in the early seventies by CRM Belgium, in order to manufacture high yield strength weldable concrete reinforcing bars from mild steel. It consists in subjecting the hot rolled steel to an in-line heat treatment in 3 successive stages:

Stage 1

As soon as it leaves the final mill stand, the product is rapidly and energetically cooled through a short cooling installation, where it undergoes surface hardening (Martensite Layer).

Stage 2

As soon as this quenching operation is stopped, the surface layer is Tampered by using the residual heat left in the CORE of the bar (Self tempering of the Martensite Layer); hence the name Tempcore.

Stage 3

The third stage takes place while the product lies on the cooling bed where the bar is subjected to normal cooling down to ambient temperature (transformation of the residual austenite in the core).
